Tokyo Halloween Ball
Kyoto & Osaka
October 2025
Flying out of Sydney 16th October bound for Tokyo Haneda Airport – about 9 hours later we land late at night and get a uber to our accommodation. Tokyo is super expensive so we opted for a small self contained apartment in Shinjuku as we are familiar with the area after last years visit.
First couple of days we walk off the jet lag and visit some places to eat that we really liked last year – amazing sashimi, Saki & Shocho (kind of like a smooth vodka).
Friday we visit this amazing place called Borderless Tokyo – a huge assortment on rooms filled with trippy projections and animations – well worth a visit if you are in Tokyo.
On the Saturday we have lunch and head to the Tokyo Halloween Ball – we did it last year so know to expect the unexpected!! The show starts at noon but we get there about 1:30 & it goes till 5am the next morning so in all 17 hours of full blast “lock & loll” (we make it to about 2:30am) and again on Sunday there is about 8 hours of great music & fun & we catch up with some friends we met last year.
The venue is small but there are only 500 or so tickets so it’s no too crowded. Two rooms that alternate bands with most have 20-30 minutes sets – as with everything in Japan it runs like clockwork!
I could go into a lot of detail but probably best to let this 20 min video compilation do the talking.
On Monday we jump on the bullet train and travel at around 250km per hour towards Kyoto. It’s a much smaller place than Tokyo but still full of tourists. We did a LOT of walking and witness a great parade celebrating 1000 years of traditional costumes, we go to the aquarium (along with about 800 small children of their school field trips…. SOOOO cute !!) & we visit a few temples – a great restaurant is near our apartment and we eat there several times.
