NEW ORLEANS
MEMPHIS • • BLUES CRUISE

Next was a train trip from Memphis to New Orleans (thru Mississippi) great to see the countryside - lots of cool looking swampy stuff - so much water in Louisiana!

New Orleans is an AWESOME place! so much music and great food and super super friendly people. We spent most of our time on Frenchman's street where a lot of the local musos hang out. Part of Frenchman's street , in 1 mile strip, has 9 cool music venues and 12 restaurants!. Whist in New OrIeans rented a car and drove top Baton Rouge to see a band called Drive By Trucker - an awesome gig - sold out 800 seat venue on a Monday night!.

Food included gumbo, jambalaya, alligator, oysters a plenty, crawfish, shrimp, ribs and much more. Music styles we saw included alt country, southern rock, 30's cabaret style, Cajun/zydeco and blues.

From New Orleans we flew to San Diego and stayed in the Little Italy area - again great restaurants, mostly traditional Italian stuff. Saw a couple of cool bands including Joey Harris (or the Beat Farmers)
